Common Winterizing Mistakes for Above Ground Pools
Many people make a big mistake by draining all the water out. This is bad because the empty pool liner can dry out and crack. Also, the walls might get pushed in by wet soil from outside.
Another mistake is not cleaning the water properly before covering it. If you don't add winter chemicals, the water will turn into a big green mess over winter. Cleaning it in spring will be very difficult.
Lastly, using a bad cover or not tying it down tightly is a problem. Wind can blow it off, or rain and leaves can pile on top. This makes a dirty pool that is hard to open later.
Fixing these three things—keeping some water in, treating the water, and using a good cover—will save you time and money next summer.
